Over 100 Years of History!

Northland Refrigeration has been in continuous refrigeration production in Greenville, Michigan, since 1892, when it was founded as Ranney Refrigeration Company. Operated for three generations by members of the Ranney family, the company manufactured iceboxes until 1938, when it converted to mechanical refrigeration.

When the Ranney family sold the company in 1970, it became the refrigeration division of Fedders Corporation. Under Fedders, the facility produced side-by-side refrigerator/freezers with the Norge label, as well as private brand labels.

In 1978, the Fedders Refrigeration Division was purchased by its president and a local investor and renamed Northland Corporation, manufacturing large-capacity, reach-in commercial refrigerators, freezers and merchandisers for the restaurant and institutional trade.

AGA Foodservice Group plc acquired Northland Corporation including the Northland Refrigeration division in 2003, making it one of the strongest, most competitive forces in the refrigeration industry. Its primary production facility remains in Greenville, Michigan.
